Obari Gomba has won the 2023 Nigeria Prize for Literature. He was announced winner for his play from a shortlist of three, which included Henry Akubuiro for Yamtarawala, the Warrior King and Abideen Abolaji Ojomu for The Ojulegba Crossroads. GRIT. Gomba was announced winner of the $100,000 prize by the Chairperson of the Advisory Board, Professor Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo at a ceremony held at the Eko Hotel in Lagos. A total of 143 plays were entered for the prestigious prize this year.
